Sweating It Up
AO: Dawn Patrol
When: 2025-05-17
QIC: Stroller
PAX (7): Butterknife, Chanel, Dutch Oven, Liquor, Manscape, Stroller, Yokel
Preamble:
Woke up to a muggy gloom of 75 degrees, but at least the chance of rain during the beatdown was gone. 7 men assembled as the clock hit 0545.Warm-O-Rama:
Half lap around the field. Circle up for a few classics, then it was time to get the heart rate up. QIC called for PAX to get into groups of 3 for Monkey Roll Drill. Since we had an extra PAX, Yokel and his weight vest would plank and watch us try to do this. This one really can't be put into words, which also makes it difficult to teach a bunch of half-asleep PAX. After about 20 seconds, Butterknife advised the Q to take a "rare L" and abandon it, so we did.The Thang:
- Mosey over to the playground (almost got decapitated by the net on the way out the side gate) for some Cindy. 5 rounds of 5 pull-ups, 10 mercans, 15 squats. Lamented that the new playground has much fewer pull-up locations than the old one, but we did what we could. On the way back out, stopped at the benches for 10x split squats per leg
- Circuits- each PAX takes an exercise card to represent a different station, with coupon carry (60# sand med ball) being the last one. While one PAX carries the ball to midfield and back, the other PAX perform AMRAP at their station. Rotate when the ball returns. Rotation is also harder than it seems, apparently, but after a while we got it down
- Grab a coupon for Kalsu. 100 thrusters, with 5 EMOM burpees. Whether it was the heat or the net effect of doing this 40 minutes into a beatdown, our energy was flagging and we called this one early
- Broga time! We did a variety of stretches, twists, and back bends for the final 10 minutes
COT:
- 2nd F May 31 at Butterknife's residence. Check Slack for details
- Prayers for the Valencia family with Goldberg's sudden and tragic passing. Convergence Big Creek (Fowler Park) Wednesday at 0530
