It had been at least a year since YHC had Q'd at the Black Widow, so I was way overdue for a return. The AO formerly known as the Widowmaker has always been one of my favorite AO's in the Alpha, but kids sports has kept me from posting here as much as I would like in recent years. Alas, I was back and had a plan.
7AM rolls around and the two pre-ruckers made it back in time for a quick disclaimer. 21 PAX then set out into the gloom for a little fun. And some miles.
Mosey along the trail system eventually getting to the top of the Widowmaker hill. Hold for the six. Head down the hill and circle up for:
Weed Twister (this was a new variation of the Weedpicker that YHC made up, and it was the first time I called it)
Catch our breath after the burpees and now YHC gave the PAX some good news and bad news. The good news was that we would only go up the Widowmaker once. The bad news is that it would be Bernie Sanders style to the manhole, then bear crawl from there. In an effort to keep the PAX together, we would also cease the bearcrawl when the six reached the lead group on foot.
At the top, one minute of Mary to catch our breath again. Continue on the trail system for an off campus surprise. Head across the street to Lake Windward Elementary for a Dora 123 with a partner.
Head back to the park stopping at the tennis court for DB drills waiting on the six. Next up was a stop at the playground for a mini circuit. Circle up in the little oasis of trees for instructions. Count off by 3 forming 3 groups. Group 1 would start with 10 pull ups, Group 2 would do 15 swerkins and Group 3 would do 20 dips. Rotate all the way around 2 full times.
Time running short we headed over to the turf fields for a few round of Ring of Fire. Stay in 3 different groups forming their own circles.
Merkin ring of fire (1 pAX does 10 merkins while other PAX hold plank)
Monkey Howlers ring of fire (1 pAX does 10 humpers while other PAX hold their ankles)
Squat ring of fire (1 pAX does 10 squats while other PAX hold air chair)
2 rounds of ring of fire, then circle up together for 1 minute of mary.
Lots of gratitude for the physical ability to get out with our brothers in the gloom and do hard things together while building community. Allow us to find other men in the area that need something like this. TCLAPS to Credit Check who was an FNG at Hoppylike on Friday and then came back out on Saturday for his 2nd post. Also TCLAPS to the 2.0's that posted with their Dads. Barkley 5K next weekend hosted by Ha-Ha.
Coffeeteria followed at Bagel Boys. Huge turnout and great conversation.
YHC was honored to be back leading Black Widow. Great group of guys.
