YHC wanted to put to use a collection of HD 5 gallon buckets and saw a past beatdown on F3 Nation for the Water bucket Ruck challenge to support Water Poverty. Modified the WOD for The Wreck. Loaded-up 15 HD 5 gallon buckets in the back of the 4 Runner and headed to the The Wreck.

6 km – average distance a woman in Africa must travel for water
40 pounds – average weight of water carried (5 gallon bucket)
200 million hours – time spent collecting water every day

Moseyed to the parking lot near the pond where a stack of buckets was waiting. Each PAX chose a 5 gallon bucket. Played Hank Williams song – “My Bucket’s got a hole in it”. On each word “bucket”, the PAX did a Diamond Merkin on the bucket.
Thang #2 Bucket EMOM
PAX headed down to the pond and after a quick snake check each PAX filled their bucket with fresh pond water. A lid was provided to reduce spillage. PAX worked through each exercise on the board within a minute and then started next exercise. Water-themed tunes played in the background.

Thang #3 Around the pond partner chase
PAX chose a partner. Partner A starting walking around the pond with a bucket full of pond water. Penalty for setting the bucket down was 1 burpee. Partner B chose a coupon and worked on an exercise on the board and then ran to catch up to Partner A. Partner A then ran back to board to work their next exercise while Partner B continued the lap around the pond. Rinse and repeat. Was able to complete 5-6 laps around the pond. Goad was 15 for a 6km but run out of time.
PAX learned some facts about Water Poverty and to appreciate the easy availability of clean water in the US. PAX had a small taste of the effort that those less fortunate must endure to get water everyday.
