Preblast was a nod to the playlist that would spur us along – Andre 3000s verse from “Black Ice”: ““Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your eardrums
It was a beautiful day off in the neighborhood
Yellows and greens and blues and browns And greys and hues that ooze beneath dilapidated wood”
Mosey with quick Capri lap to scoop Soul Glo followed by Willie Mays Hayes, Abe Vigodas, Good Mornings then mosey to amphitheater stage for instructions
5 PAX split into 2 groups. One group would AMRAP 2 sets of 5 BBSU/5 Merkins until the other group made a lap around the amphitheater and swap out. After 2 laps the AMRAP switched to 10 squats/10 LBC, after 2 laps the AMRAP then switched to 15 Wheezy Jeffersons/15 E2K alpha count. Recover mosey back to the stage as a group after 2 rounds/laps of the 15 rep AMRAPs.
Next was 2 rounds of 7s between amphitheater levels and the stage of: dips/pretzel sticks, then irkins/dying cockroach.
Mosey to flag for Mary: Freddie Mercuries, Reverse LBCs, Heels to Heaven, Merkins & Copperhead squats
Prayers for Benny’s fam as they go through medical issues (and others) with his M’s parents. Praise that Schneider’s mother is continuing to recover and progressing at rehab. Praises for Soul Glo who is feeling out a potential opportunity but has a great backup plan for the summer in case it doesn’t work out.
Per Soul Glo’s discussion, it is always good to have a backup plan. When David slayed Goliath he had several stones in his bag he didn’t use – goes to show you that even when God speaks directly to you it pays to have a backup plan! Quote discussed this morning was “if you are not grateful for what you already have, what makes you think you would be happy with more”?
Bottom line is to not get caught up in the ever-moving societal push to “gain more and more money, toys, etc]” but to be thankful for what you have already been blessed with.
