Coming back to Bad Apple for the first time in a while and the first since the flag was moved. It’s a dark park but that didn’t stop 7 men from showing up (and leaving) at various times throughout the workout.
I had a weinke with a recycled beatdown from the Boneyard and a playlist from exactly one year ago at the Gladiator, thus the name of this beatdown.
A disclaimer was given and we were off.
Mosey to the bottom of Zima’s hill for:
Weed Pickers x10 IC
SSH x10 IC
Hillbillies x10 IC
World’s Greatest Stretch
After finally getting my TMBG-less playlist going we started.
A string of pearls was on the menu:
Triple Nickel – 5 burpees, run Zima’s hill, 5 monkey humpers – repeat 5 times, except we only repeated 4 times due to limited time.
Mosey to the building aka ‘the shitter’ for some hip slappers. 20 on each side (or maybe 15).
Mosey to the situp station for 25 Annies. We lost Sprocket after this one due to an early work commitment.
Mosey to someplace in the parking lot for 20 No Surrenders.
Mosey to the front (side?) of the school for Apple Turnovers. Bear crawl 3 lines then flip over and crab walk three lines. Rinse and repeat to the end.
At the end we did a simple suicide run…3 lines then 5 HR merkins, repeat adding 3 lines each time (but keeping merkins the same).
Mosey toward the bottom of the hill for Scorpion Dry Docks. Translated in Bad Apple-speak to 20 Stone Mountains with left leg lifted high in the air (like a scorpion’s tail) followed by 20 with right leg lifted high. It was at this point I realized TheBurn had joined us at some point and I was just now finding out. Props to him for posting after not landing in ATL until midnight.
Mosey back up the hill for some Travoltas…it’s in the Exicon so look it up.
Circle up for some mary including La-z-boys, Big Bois, buzz saws and Goat closed things out with his famous mind-control merkins (down and hold inches above the ground until Q says up…we got in 4 in about 30-40 seconds).
Prayers lifted up for TheBurn’s dad who is recovering from a stroke.
Prayers for Cardinal’s family in Knoxville.
We reminded the PAX where the AED is located (in the shitter per TheBurn) and asked them to keep reminding throughout the month of January.
Look on Slack for upcoming opportunities to participate in CPR and/or other life-saving activities.
Extra credit Murph on Saturday (0700 start but don’t quote me on that)
Encouragement was given to travel to other AOs for new workout ideas and to meet other HIMs
Bad Apple was one of the first AOs I started visiting regularly once I could do more than one or two beatdowns a week. I’ll always remember the great welcome I received and the hard work these men put in. It’s always great to come back and meet some new faces and see some of the same grizzled faces :). You guys are rocking it and I appreciate and admire your hard work.
