YHC was fresh off a long race the weekend prior and a recent stint of needing to ask other HIM to substitute Q for me while I was tapering or resting. Recovery went well throughout the week so I was ready to answer the call and celebrate my anniversary of 5 years in the gloom.
Start running down the hill and notice the area by the baseball fields is now open and lit up. Great to see Benny getting things done already as new site Q!
Circle up for 10 burpees OYO, good morning IC, windmill IC, willy mays hays IC, 10 burpees OYO. air chair while late arrivals Jiminy and Shag knock out their burpees.
Head down to the bottom football field for a routine concocted on my 2 min drive to the AO.
PAX lineup on the goal line
bear crawl to the 25 – 25 T-bombs
bear crawl to the 50 – 25 Groiners
bear crawl to the 75 – 25 Imperial Walkers (alpha)
bear crawl to the opposite goal line – 25 fire hydrants
Added bonus – all PAX do 5 burpees every 5 minutes for the duration of the beatdown since it’s my 5 year anniversary and all..
Active recovery called for 2 rounds of moseying from the goal to the 50 and then sprinting the rest of the way. YHC heard some helpful mumblechatter about the previous round’s difficulty and how fire hydrants are essentially just kegel exercises to strengthen the walls of ones’ uterus.
Rinse and repeat on the previous routine with a few changes including the name.
Same as before but
bear crawl to the 25 – 25 LBC
bear crawl to the 50 – 50 merkins
bear crawl to the 75 – 75 star jumps
bear crawl to the opposite goal line – 100
This one seems to hit the mark a bit better with the PAX
Next, PAX partnered up for a catch-me-if-you-can up the hill back to the flag.
partner 1 – bernie sanders up the hill
partner 2 – 5 merkins then run to catch-up and flapjack
no time for mary
Praise for 5 years in the gloom and the kind words shared to YHC. Praise also for Snowman’s salesperson of the year award and for the awesome bonds men are forming over the man-date mandate.
Cumming Thanksgiving half marathon, Santa Ruck upcoming. Also planted the seed about a possible “yes man” type running event on NYE. More to come on that…
It’s hard to believe it’s been 5 years since I first took the DRP with Benny. I honestly had no idea what I was showing up to but was immediately drawn into the fellowship and how uniquely special this group is. I would never have said I was in need of the male bonds I’ve formed since joining and now realize just how much I truly was.
My life is so much richer because of the men and experiences I’ve encountered through F3 and I’m looking forward to continuing to give it away for many years to come.
