Q call out at Windjammer and as i have been absent and haven’t Q’d there since May I jumped at the chance and to do a workout that had been forming in my mind for about 3 weeks.

Mosey up to the big lot for some SSH, IW, WP, and Mtn Climbers (first hint as to what would come). We hear one late Pax come in on his motorcycle but he runs off the other way. We will find him.

Today’s beatdown will be the best approximation of what the Blue Ridge Relay feels like. Only False Start and I are the veterans of the race but I am always recruiting.

We start with a windy drive through the mountains best done with DB drills down the parking lot lines.

The Thang:

A short mosey and we are at the starting line. Pax pair up. The BRR consists of one man running while the others drive to the next checkpoint (exchange zone) and wait for him to tag off to the next one.

In this beatdown the group 1 will bear crawl while the others run to the next street light and perform an exercise until they are in. We will follow the BLIMPS workout. Once group 1 is in group 2 starts bear crawling and the rest run ahead for the next exercise.

After we get through BLIMPS the first time we have arrived at Frosty’s Choose and Cut. A quick quiz to see what pax think that would be. We heard barber (that was my thought too), and a Charcuterie place among others. I claimed that was close which got baffled looks when I let it be known it is a Christmas Tree Farm (which has now opened a wine and charcuterie barn).

So we did 10 Catalina Wine Mixers (low plank -> high plank -> mercan, repeat) because Windjammers cooled down with wine during the actual race.

Now back to the relay. Another round starting with Group 2 bear crawling while the rest go through BLIMPS (although I messed up the Burpees on the first round. Thanks Zohan for correcting me)

We work our way toward the Sports Park and end at the courts.

Great, we have done a couple of runs and it’s time to try to get some sleep. We all find a spot on the picnic tables. Some get the wider more comfortable top while others are on the seats but you make do with what you have and don’t worry about being a little too close to someone else. We perform 10 Sleeping Hillbillies (lay down and do Hillbilly on left then right side) which one pax later described as ‘kinky’ (?!?) and 20 LBCs.

Well we didn’t sleep but it’s time to run, but for real this time. We mosey back to the street and do an actual run (faster than a mosey but don’t have to sprint) until we get back to the lake.

Now we get to enjoy some potatoes at the firehouse (no way to simulate showers that they also offer during the race), or in this case a little hot potato. One partner grabs a rock and first round is Big Boys with Rock handing it back and forth between you. Second is Curls and Squats for four rounds passing the potato back and forth.

Time for another actual run back to the flag. (I didn’t mention it but if you passed someone on the run then you chalk up a “kill” a way to measure your progress on BRR.)

10 burpees to correct my earlier mistake.
False Start with some flutter kicks
A challenge to Caroline to call an exercise. He goes for some LBJs (dawha..?) Oh LBCs, he calls cadence great. I see a Q coming on soon.
A call for anyone else that hasn’t Qd in a while to lead something when a voice calls out. A slight accent behind it, and we get Hot Sauce calling for some dying cockroaches!

Prayers for job transformation

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Always a pleasure to lead and hope I convinced at least one person to join for BRR next year. You won’t regret it.
