A beatdown in honor of my daughter’s 17th birthday…as mentioned, a little amazed I helped keep someone alive for 17 years when I often feel and act like I’m still 17…
Mosey to the lake for the traditional warm up:
Arm Circles/Covids – OYO
Off to the boat launch…
In honor of her birthday, we’d do 17 reps of an exercise at each of the four non-corners. This is apparently where I forgot fifth grade geometry. Instead of corners, it was more like four points, or bases on the diamond. Nonetheless, the intention was there. The exercises were left to a roll of the dice.
First round – Bonnie Blairs
Second round – lunges
Third round – Matt Olson style run around the bases
Fourth round – Merkins
Off to the sports park pavilion, for a Speedo (the Pax, not the bathing suit) inspired WASH Dora. In pairs, PAX completed 50 Werkins, 100 American Hammers, 150 Squats, 200 Hip Thrusters (better known as Pickle Pointers). One Pax did the reps while the other ran a lap around the parking lot and so on…
Next is victory time – the end of a workout when you have to push a little more. Bad memories from HS football, especially since we had few victories. Off to the hill where Pax got in two lines of five. First person in each ran to the top and then the next two started up and so on. Everyone returned down for a second, and wetter trip, to the top before moseying back to the flag.
Prayers and positive thoughts for everyone competing in the BRR and Grow Ruck this weekend.
Prayers for Micah (friend of Cox) who lost his father this week.
Encouragement for everyone not competing out of town to keep the AOs going this weekend – Widowmaker, Nirvana…etc.
Always appreciate everyone’s participation and positive thoughts, especially when my mind was clearly not working this morning. I don’t think I would push myself as hard if it wasn’t for the group around…or enjoy the experience as much.
