King of **** mountain, if you want it you can have the crown.
PAX (2): Janeway, Sirmixalot
YHC had some time to get in a ruck while one his 2.0s was at church youth night. Posted a call on slack to see if anyone else was around and wanted to join in the fun.
The pain was sharp and immediate. Tower rd. does not start off gently. I went ahead and started a lap up knowing that Janeway might join in on the fun but I planned to circle back and pick him up. Made it probably about 3/4 of the way to the top and headed down in time to meet him in the parking lot. I was plenty warmed up and he was soon warmed up too.
YHC had ambitiously thought I could get in three quick laps to the top and back before I had to go pick up 2.0 but twice was all we could manage before I ran out of time. I’ll be back for more soon.
The conversation was good and uplifting. I would have been fine just listening to Sturgill Simpson singing about being the King of $%^* mountain but having a brother there was good medicine. It seemed like it was a timely diversion for Janeway as well. Something occurred to me after driving away and it applies to many areas of life. The mountain doesn’t care if you’re tired. If you want to make it to the top the one and only way is to keep climbing. Whatever obstacles we face in our lives are the same. The obstacle doesn’t care about your feelings or how winded you are. The only way beyond is through. Keep moving forward.
