PAX (9): Cox, Focker, Krueger, Lil Hurt, lumbergh, No-See-Um, Pinkey, Special K, Wilson (Scott Christopher)
After a participating for a few months all-in (with a 5 month break for latest 2.0), and being inspired by Pinkey’s 80s BD on Thursday, I stepped up to Co-Q with him today. Had a few days between jobs last week to research the Exicon and plan a 90s-themed workout for the day. Pinkey was a huge help in advising me to keep things simple and doable for the group (and for me to lead). BUT I didn’t anticipate the steamy humidity, so made some adjustments as needed! Summer has definitely arrived, even in the gloom.
Pinkey conducted the disclaimer, then we mosey’d around the parking lot and circled up for SSH, WP, Hillbillies, and Willy Mays Hays led by Pinkey. Finished with arm circles and Covids, then mosey’d over to the tennis courts.
Once on the courts, I announced our first round – an “Agassi” workout, variation of suicides, but playing off the popular 90s show, 90210. For every 0 we did a suicide across 2 courts, alternating between doubles and single lines, and the other numbers denoted reps for other exercises: 9 LBCs, 2 LL Cool Js, 1 Wolverine. I announced we were watching 5 “episodes,” then Pinkey got the music pumping and we were Mmm-Bopping our way through the first round. Once done, we did Al Gores until all PAX finished. Then we mosey’d to the building next to the Field of Dreams.
Once there we found a board with instructions for Thang 2.
Alanis Morrisette and Montell Jordan kept us going through the thick humidity. It’s a good thing I cut other exercises I had considered like J’Los, because the 4 rounds took us nearly to time. We mosey’d over to the flag and finished right at time, drenched with sweat.
We had a few prayer requests, Cox’s daughter and No-See-Um’s M both traveling this wk. I shared 2 praises, for my new job and my daughter’s arm- in a cast but not too serious. And Cox shared a good word on “Not Yet” achieving our goals – to still persevere even if it is not realized… yet. Also, he’s collecting donations for backpacks for kids to be filled at North Fulton Community Charities. He mentioned Kroger managers can donate gift cards, so hit them up!
Really enjoyed researching exercises and building a themed workout focused on abs and legs with a few burpees thrown in. Definitely a different, stretching experience leading verses participating which was good for me. Pleasure leading you all! Thanks for welcoming me in.
