After almost 2 years of dodging service as the VQ, and multiple gentle nudges and public shaming by, oh, most of the Widowmaker and Windjammer regulars, I capitulated and took the baton that was handed to me, and served as the humble VQ for today’s beatdown. Thank you to all who persisted and had more confidence in me than I had in myself….and thank you to everyone who hung in there today and jammed to some classic 80’s rock.
We started with somewhere around 25 side straddle hops…thanks to some unorthodox counting that mostly got straightened out…
15 weed pickers
15 imperial walkers
15 toy soldiers
15 (or so) arm circles
We moseyed to the middle parking lot by way of the pavilion, where stopped and did 30 dips to continue warming up.
Once at the parking lot we paired up and selected suitable coupons – with at least one PAX apparently having something to prove, ‘cause he selected a freakin’ boulder….
and we alternated half-loops up the stairs and around while the partner did reps, for totals as follows:
250 LBC w/coupon
300 squats w/coupon
150 skull crushers
…and for the over-achievers,
250 American hammers (or a portion thereof), then
we moseyed to the bottom of the widowmaker, where we enjoyed a rousing round of 11’s consisting of box cutters at the crosswalk, Bernie’s to the end of the guardrail (the furthest one, no less), where we did merkins.
After a brief recovery at the bottom, we ascended to the road at the top of the hill and moseyed back to the flag, just as the hour struck!
Announcements re: baskets for seniors (Cox) and various Memorial Day events (Speedo). Prayers for those named and unnamed, and thanks for this brotherhood of HIM.
Many, many thanks to the HIM gathered this morning, and to those who regularly post, for the examples they set, the encouragement they give, and the support they provide to each of us as we go about trying to be better men. Thanks for all the support this morning, fellas!
