PAX (13): Cookie, Dipstick, FannyPack, Groundhog, Lefty, Lil Hurt, MillerTime, No-See-Um, Special K, Stiff Arm, Trebek, Irene
As I approached my 5th anniversary of starting with F3 (May the 4th be with you) I looked for some way I could honor that. As it turns out the traditional gift is wood. I can work with that and so I started tracking down some logs that Ha-ha has been known to bring around. Combined with some dumpster trash from recent house work I had something to work with.
2 Pre ruckers, 2 Pre runners, plus an FNG that materialized from nowhere (He was not the ghost frolfer that was spotted a couple of weeks ago). I assured him that gloves were a good idea today as the splinter risk is greater than usual.
A short mosey to the pool lot (including me sans wheels today!) for WP, IW, Mtn Climbers, and some arm circles while I talked about this being a special day for me. I also was as flustered today as I was my first Q but the words made enough sense.
This bd is a clone of what Ha-ha used to bring with the logs, however I replaced the girls friends with 6X6 wooden post pieces (lighter but the repetition of movement will be felt, and his preferred Muse music with my favorite; a potentially divisive discography review of CAKE.
Partner up, A does the exercise for the song listed. B runs to the end of the lot and back, however, if there is a log ON THE GROUND at either end you grab a partner and haul it the other way.
Exercises are such:
Rock n Roll Lifestyle – Lunges
The Distance – Curls
Race Car Yayas – Blockees (Our shortest song)
Nugget – LBC
Never There – Squat Jumps
Let Me Go – Overhead Press
Short Skirt/Long Jacket – SSH
Comfort Eagle – American Hammers
No Phone – Jump Over the Block
Tougher Than It Is – Mercans
War Pigs – Thrusters
Mustache Man (Wanted) – Freddy Mercury, but we ran out of time and headed back to the flag
Lots of chatter about pax history of Cake, learning what a vibraslap is, learning what a frolfer is, concerts with the kids, the inefficiency of moving a log back and forth, racing the log to one end so you wouldn’t have to bring it back, and how we couldn’t think of a funny thing to say about wood.
Praise for the birth of Caffey’s son and the health of his family.
Convergence this weekend at North Park 0630.
Welcome FNG Irene (A NY transplant that did undergrad at GT, and grad school at UGA which led to a discussion attending these rival schools and bipolar/schizophrenia like Jim Carrey in Me, Myself, and Irene….) Great EH by Dipstick.
I always enjoy looking back at my first post (https://f3alpha.com/backblast/2017/05/04/22-strong-in-the-gloom/) and see names that I often forget were there like Zima, Nacho, Haha, Dosido, and even Hot Sauce happened to be there that day!, but also those that I continue to see several times a week like Cookie, Devito, and MT. I am very happy that I stuck this out and continue to be driven by this group to get stronger, faster, be a better father and husband, and be in the best shape of my life. It is wonderful to have the friendships this has brought and I look forward to the next 5.
