(…Q clears throat…in my best Trooper Carl Foster impersonation…)
QIC told the PAX backblast to “bring their cinders” and we all assumed they were going to be used to sit on as a tool of rest.
BOY WERE WE backblast WRONG.
Q didn’t play around. Little discussion, a classic “let’s mosey” to run away from the PAX who were still thinking of jumping ship to Waffle House. Modify as necessary right backblast?
Quick Mosey to the front backblast entrance parking lot (aka the cheese grater). We were told to leave our cinders. A ruckus sound of joy spread among the PAX! “Backblast! YES! Cinders backblast aren’t needed after all!”
Side Straddle hops
#1 – Mini Murphy (Or a Quarter of a Murph)
QIC counted the backblast PAX off into groups of 3
The “1’s” start with pull ups (5 count)
The “2’s” start with 10 merkins (or is it mercans?)
The “3’s” start with 15 squats.
Q instructed the group to do each section for 5 rounds
NEXT – Mosey back to the main backblast parking lot. Grab your cinder. A collective sigh spread like COVID.
#2 – Cinder Field Party
Q lead the PAX to the main field
“On the field there are several lines:
Red line (approx. 35yards)
Far Red Line
Far 18 Box
PAX will do 5 exercises for 10 reps each
Kettle Bells Swingers
Cinder Press + V Up LBC (core / abs)
Upon completion, PAX will then Murder Bunny to the next line
The PAX cheered backblast! “What joy! What fun!” A loud sound of quacking was heard as we were a bunch of lucky duckies.
PAX made it to the far end and:
QIC called “On the way back, only stop at the Red Line and Mid Line. Only 5 reps of each exercise.”
So generous. The PAX expressed a moan and groan that the Q lowered the count to 5 reps.

This morning was truly a privilege to join such men as you. I’m always grateful for the fun, leadership, and motivation of a bunch of yahoos trying to sharpen each other like iron at 5:15am.
