DORA, Diamonds, and Football

With a feeling of my recent stadiums of pain crushing me and those PAX who attended, I made a conscious decision to bring a BD that would be hard but FUN! I think everyone doubted me because they seemed quite skeptical as we started the BD.


Quick mosey over in front of NW and circled up for the warm up below:

The Thang:

After finishing our warm up, we moseyed over to the basketball court where we began Thang 1. Also, No-See-Um threw out a request for a cowboy hat and it made me think of a great playlist: country, today’s and yesterday’s hits. Yay – said no one by YHC and Woody!


Thang 1: Bear Crawl 1-2-3

Dora’s crazy wild life friend, who likes to cause a ruckus. Partner up, perform 100 HR Merkins, 200 LBCs 90 degrees, and 300 Squats as a team. While Partner 1 is doing the 1-2-3, Partner 2 Bear Crawls across the basketball court, and Crawl Bear back, then flip flop until all Merkins, LBCs, and Squats are complete.

There was a lot of PAX who grew even more skeptical about my promise of fun, and I felt a mutiny was potentially forthcoming.  No worries, let’s carry on to the Northwestern football/soccer/lacrosse field.

Thang 2: 7 of Diamonds

Apparently the PAX need some geometry lessons, as many were struggling with the diamond.

For the first round, do 7 reps of an exercise (burpees) at each of the 4 corners with a mosey (or sprint) in between corners. Each round, increase by 7 reps with a different exercise each round, for a total of 7 rounds.

  • 7 burpees at each corner for first round
  • 14 Bonnie Blares
  • 21 Wide Mercans
  • 28 Big Boys
  • 21 Diamond Mercans
  • 14 Reverse Lunges
  • 7 burpees

we only got through three rounds as YHC wanted to save time for the actual fun!

Thang 3: Ultimate Football

YHC wasn’t being sarcastic, as I actually had some fun planned.

Played like Ultimate Frisbee but with a football. Receiving team calls out exercise for team that gets scored on. We played for 20 minutes, and had a number of highlights. Hollywood going deep and catching an out of reach pass, Woody throwing and catching a number of bombs, No-See-Um showing off that QB arm, and a number of other defensive and offensive highlights.

we finished up with 3 minutes to go and hit up flutters, hammers, and dying cockroaches.

Today I had a lot of fun, and think the others did as well. Mixing it up and get stronger while still having fun is something I will plan to do more of in future Q’s.
