Another trip around the sun, another Barkley 5K at The Widowmaker. With Hill Seeker going on this weekend the crowd was a bit smaller but spirited nonetheless.
Not really. Instructions, team selection, and we are off. 7 waypoints around the park. Choose any route you wish. At each waypoint collect the page from the hidden book with your team’s number. Whoops. I forgot to give everyone a number! Anywho, With the hidden book is an exercise to perform. 61 reps this year except for the burpee stop which was 10. After each loop stop back by the flag to turn in your pages to prove you hit all the waypoints and go back out for the next round.
Right away there was different strategy on which way to go and what was the shortest route. YHC ran with a group with Stu, Funyion, TMI and NRA.
The waypoint exercises were:
61 calf raises at the steps by the stop sign
61 squats at the loop trail on the east side by the neighborhood access
61 single count lunges on the main trail between where the east side loop trail connects
10 Burpees on the Widowmaker
61 Merkins at the north loop just over the bridge from the parking lot
61 Dips at the pavilion by the playground
61 LBCs at the outfield fence of the northeast ball field
