Back at it here at the Gladiator. Fun little back and forth after a heads up from Scrum that we’d have at least one Charlottonian DR trying to figure out when and where to go. It’s one of my favorite things about the Alpha that we have the Gladiator at East Roswell Park, and Galaxy at East Cobb Park. If I was any good at this, I’d post the Spider Man multiverse meme with the two suburbs pointing at each other. We should think about an AO at East Lake Park named Gallop.
By the way…Charlottonian? Charlottian? Charlatan? No, Charlatan’s definitely not it…
The normal crew of pre-runners showed up with no drama, despite the 50 degree rain, did just over two, then the rain let up. It was awesome. You’re welcome, Other PAX, for us absorbing the brunt of it. YHC had a pavilion workout planned, but since the rain was light and fleeting, I pivoted.
And oh what a glorious pivot it was.
Super emphasized Disclaimer this morning because of previously mentioned Downrangers…gotta make sure they know not to sue me regardless of what pivot I had in mind…
Mosey to the field and circle up at midfield for:
Moroccan Night Clubs (I have to look up how to spell that every time)
Walking toy soldiers around the circle like a mix between the Nutcracker and the Rockettes
Walking lunges the other way
Hoho, this is gonna be awesome. We lined up on the midfield line and grabbed a partner. Speaking of which, I know it’s a futbol field, and not a football field, but can I just say, “line up on the 50” from now on? Y’all know what that means, right?
First up was Dora: 100 Merkins, 200 squats, 300 Single-Count Mountain Climbers (run to the baseline and back).
Next Up: Jack Webb. Kinda early in the BD for ol’ Jack, right? Wrong. It was perfect. Feeling so swole right now. Spring Break is only 2.5 months away.
Editor’s note: 7/28 reps is halfway, not 5/20. Who knew?
Partner up. This time instead of running, one partner is going to Air Chair while the other works through one bullet at a time:
Line up on the 50 for Lieutenant Dan, making our way to the baseline. We got to 5/20…but didn’t quite finish the 20. Keep that in mind.
Grab your partner and work your way back down that ladder rotating reps vs Air Chair:
It’s important to note that at one point, I heard a voice I didn’t recognize make sure that we weren’t putting our hands on our knees for the Air Chair. Totally valid coaching, but it made me think of a new exercise: The Static Twerk. Think on it over the weekend, but I vote for it getting put in the Exicon.
Anywell, we’re back on the baseline, and we start back where we were with Ol’ Lt. Dan. 5/20, made our way to the 50. For record keeping, we didn’t quite get through 7/28
Then we moseyed back to the baseline for Wind Sprints. I think we did 6 50 yarders.
And finally (cackles mischievously), we had some time, and we hadn’t finished with our buddy Dan. So we started at midfield with 7/28 and made our way back to the flags. Which, by the way, was a PERFECT time and distance. Bloody brilliant, I tell you.
Speedo’s got the keys to the Boneyard tomorrow, and Zohan is leading a Q-Source Ruck. Check Slack for deets.
Special thanks for everyone putting up with me this morning…and always… Honestly, I think I like Wind Sprints more than Tebow likes Suicides. Plus, it’s always good when you’re completely toasting your legs like that to make sure you open up that full range of motion in a way only full stride sprinting allows. Your legs will feel better tomorrow because of it, I promise. @Speedo, make sure you start at 10/40 and work your way down.
And final note: I’m a guy who has a full pro audio set up, plus like 4 bluetooth speakers…and yet, only 2 of us were able to hear a slappin’ ’70s playlist this morning coming from my phone in a CVS bag. Shameful. I’ll do better next time.
