Special shout out to Magnolia and all the other 2.0s who have been attending the 6:30 Windjammer beatdowns that last two weeks! Makes one wonder about how awesome a 6:30 beatdown would always be…
Parking at the Windjammer was never safer than today. We were greeted by a lighted runway provided by Haha and both him and Stu served as very capable air traffic controllers. All potential accidents were avoided.
After the usual preamble we dispensed with the normal jog to the Winddammer and moseyed over to the dainty coupon pile in the parking lot. We each snagged a diminutive coupon and moseyed with them over our heads to the top of the parking lot.
The warm-up consisted of 10 weedpickers…and that’s it. We had work to do.
To kick off 2022 we were going to attempt to do 2,022 reps. YHC had set up four stations consisting of the exercises below. It was up to everyone to choose how they wanted to complete the reps. Once completed, finish it off with 22 burpees to get to 2,022.
Also, because it was New Year’s Eve we had to do a little something special. Unfortunately, the Georgia Peach Drop was canceled again this year, so we had to make that up with our own Windjammer Peach Drop. YHC had come a bit early and attached a giant peach to the tennis court net that could be lowered throughout the workout to let the PAX know how much time was left in the workout (just trust me that it was an actual giant peach and not a basketball). So throughout the beatdown the peach got lower and the reps got higher.
The beatdown went great. A couple highlights:
I should have realized it would be a bit awkward to be doing a bunch of Pickle Pointers and Monkey Humpers in front of Townie’s 2.0 Magnolia (I think she’s 8?).
Every time I looked up Millie Vanilli was crushing out reps all by himself. It was impressive but also a little sad to see him by himself of New Years Eve.
Explaining to everyone that it wasn’t “Stripper Count” it was “Striper Count”. That is another way to say single count. It is based of a Norseman regular named Striper who dislikes Alpha count and coined the Striper Count term.
Also, should have considered the whole Stripper Count thing knowing that Magnolia was going to be there. Again, my bad Townie…
The PAX worked hard but nobody was able to complete all 2,022 reps. I’m confident that Cookie would have been able to do it had he not generously given blood the day before.
Finally, because it was New Year’s Eve we had to celebrate. So with a few minutes left in the beatdown we gathered around the giant peach (again definitely not a basketball) and did the peach drop. YHC also provided a very Windjammer appropriate firework (aka, not loud so we don’t wake the neighbors) that Magnolia lit as we counted down from 10. Check out the Windjammer Slack Page for a video. Happy New Year!
