When I saw the empty spot on Sunday I was happy to grab the Q. Many thanks to Steamer who called first but let me have this one.
First time I’m Qing at the Galaxy, so thought to bring a few of my favorite things. We didn’t have time to do them all (something about finishing after 45 min) but that just gives me a reason to come back some other time, if they’ll let me.
Quick disclaimer and a mosey. Some PAX seemed surprised that YHC started with a mosey and not with warmup exercises, which is exactly why I love visiting different AOs and learning different styles.
Circled up for 12 IC Copper Head Squats, 12 IC Imperial Walkers and then Bat Wings – 20 ICs each Forward Arm Circles, Backwards, Seal Claps and Overhead Claps. Try to keep hands up between exercises.
Moved the circle closer to the cars so YHC can grab his phone and speakers for Me Gustan Merkins – Hold plank position. YHC plays Me Gusta by Menu Chao. Every time the song says Me Gusta, we all do 1 Merkin. Always a crowd pleaser!
YHC felt that our hands could benefit from some rest before the main thang, so bought us some time with 11s. Started a Rock playlist and run to a nearby parking lot and positioned ourselves near a short trail that goes up to a pavilion. 11s of Gas Pumpers and Step Ups (alpha count).
At about 5:50am YHC called recover (no one finished the 11s yet) and circled up to explain the main Thang – EMOM-ish.
5 exercises – Burpee, Bonnie Blairs (alpha), Big Boy Sit Ups, Merkin, Squats.
YHC had a ready TABATA counting rounds, starting from 45 seconds for the first round and increasing in length each round. First round – 1 of each of the five exercises mentioned above. SSH till end of round. Second round – 2 of each, SSH till the end of the round and so forth. Some PAX appreciated me for setting the app to call “Round ten. Last round, just kidding”.
We finished with just enough time to mosey to the flag for some Ankle Biters and LBCs.
Prayers for health issues and job searches.
