PAX (12): Dreamer, Lumbergh, Tar Hill, Cheneral, Bunyan, Scratch Off, Tebow, Stroller, Fire Drill, Spandex, Switch Hitter, Zohan
13 years ago my family and I left Israel for a temporary (3-5 years) position in St. Louis. I felt at home in the US better than I ever did in Israel. Sure, there were struggles, there were ups and downs, but overall it was worth it. When I was given the opportunity to extend my stay I gladly took it and have never regretted it. I was glad to share this joy with my brothers this morning.
Started the mosey at 5:30 sharp, no disclaimer (yet). Heard some pax mumbling about not knowing whom to not sue. Certainly as important existential question, but it could wait.
Circled up in the parking lot next to the splash pool for the disclaimer. Explained that YHC has left Israel 13 years ago on May 27th 2008. Officially landed on the 28th, but sue me. or don’t. better don’t.
SSH, Windmills and Copper Head Squats. All IC and 13 count.
Moseyed out of the park to a small neighborhood that is being built across the street. YHC did some runs recently and marked it for an upcoming BD.
Partner up. At one point of entrance Seal BBSU (partners crossing hands). At a cul-de-sac Pattie Cake Merkins, alpha count. At the other point of entrance, next to the church, Bropees (Burpees with a clap). Start with 13 at each point and work your way down.
YHC was VERY optimistic that we can push it and make this work on time. It sucked. The uphill there, the double count merkins. With an eye on the watch recover was called when Lumbergh and I finished the 4th round (10 each), which still accounts for half of the reps. 13 count for recovery and we moseyed back.
Stopped at the pavilion near the splash park and circled up. YHC explained the next exercise is called Global Warming. Starting at Al-Gore position, the PAX shuffle left in the circle till YHC calls out an exercise. When done we go back to Al-Gore and shuffle the other direction. I couldn’t explain why it was named Global Warming in the Exicon, but soon it became apparent. All the exercises we did were IC and 13 count. I think we’ve done: Makhtars, Jane Fonda, Jane Fonda (other leg), Flatter Kicks, Plank Jacks, Peter Parkers. Maybe not in that order.
2 things happened meanwhile – 1) we figured out the name. As Scratch Off articulated it, our internal organs (body heat) went sky high. 2) It started raining, probably for the same reason.
With a few minutes to go we spent one minute Ball to the Wall as active rest, then back to the flag for a quick Mary with Proctor, American Hammers and Monkey Humpers.
Good discussion followed after about the situation in Israel, groups that have a lot in common fighting about the little they don’t have in common, stupid people that enjoy causing trouble and such.
I really appreciate this group of men, whom I’m honored to call brothers. When things weigh heavy on my mind or heart I know I’ll feel better when I post with them.
