PAX (6): Ha-Ha (RR), Stu (R), Pumba (R), Meatball, Zohan
Knowing the forecast YHC knew the PAX count would be down this morning but, as usual, I was greeted by several familiar cars in the parking lot with a couple more rolling in after me. We huddled under some trees to stay somewhat dry until 0700. Disclaimer given and we were off.
Mosey to concession stand between baseball fields and found some cover for:
Weed Pickers x15
Mosey to pavilion above soccer field for the start of some Super 21’s. Do 21 of each exercise then run to the bathroom building and back. Continue with 19, 17, 15, 13
Step up-ups (all the way to the top of the tables)
To break things up a bit, after the round of 13 we picked a curlable coupon and returned to the pavilion.
In a circle, each PAX held the coupon in a static hold in front of them while one-by-one each guy did 15 half curls (from static/middle down to waist and back up). When we got around the circle we continued with 15 half curls (from static up to chest) and, as Pumba correctly predicted, round 3 was 15 full curls.
The biceps were kinda sorta on fire at this point so we dropped the coupons and completed the Super 21 round with 11 reps of each.
Pick the coupons back up and this time cusack while each PAX performed 15 skull crushers (one-by-one while others held cusack) then back around with 15 shoulder to shoulders.
Shoulders were now aflame so dropped the coupons and completed the Super 21 round with 9 reps of each.
We planked up and each PAX performed 15 plank jacks one-by-one while others held plank. We repeated, this time with mountain climbers and finally with peter parkers.
Everything hurt at this point so we completed the Super 21 round with 7 reps.
At some point we also completed 25 shoulder presses OYO and 10 blockees OYO. Also, Pumba’s headlights turned off at some point.
We finished up the Super 21’s with rounds 5, 3 and 1
Last set under the pavilion, PAX circled up and held a static halfway up situp position (the boats part of boats and canoes) while each PAX in order did 15 American Hammers. Round two included 10 big bois (or 15 if you’re Pumba). Round three included flutter kicks. Whatever muscles are used to keep your legs in that static position do NOT like to be extended out for flutters.
We returned the coupons and, realizing we weren’t very wet and it wasn’t raining very much, we moseyed to the soccer field for some merkin suicides. Starting on the far end line, run to the top of the penalty box and perform 25 merkins of your choosing. Then bernie sanders back to the end line and run to midfield for another round of 25, different type of your choosing this time. Repeat bernie sanders and do another 25 at the top of the far penalty box and once again at the far end line. With super 21 derkins included, we knocked out 221 merkins before 0800! Extra credit to the guys who included a set of diamonds with their merkins. Double extra credit to Zohan for adding a round of hand release merkins on the last set.
Met in the center circle for a few minutes of mary including:
Shoulder taps (you should only be moving your arms…not your gums)
Praise for Meatball’s daddy/daughter dance tonight. Reminder of NLB beatdown plus meal on 5/8. Check Slack for ways to participate and/or contribute. F3 Alpha Convergence at Riverside Park on 5/8 so NO WIDOWMAKER ON 5/8. Praises for life-giving rain and strong bodies. For the record, the YOUNGEST PAX today was 42 years old with an average age of 53 across all PAX! Strong #respect showing and great effort by all.
“You can only get wet once” was how Ha-Ha described this workout when he posted it on Slack. While it does suck to be cold and wet, the brotherhood and community that is reinforced during these times can simply not be recreated elsewhere in my opinion. Absolutely no judgement for those who fartsacked or smartsacked. Just remember the Five Core Principles and know you are missed when you are not able to make it.
