PAX (12): Raspberry Pi, Shiner, Cheneral, Tar Hill, Snowbird, Tebow, Scratch Off, Brownie, Bunyan, Dreamer, Bo Knows, Zohan
A pre-blast YHC posted yesterday clearly said cinder blocks would be in use. A Wienke in my pocket had a bunch of cinder-oriented workouts. The cinder theme sort of tied to Passover, which YHC is currently celebrating (read as – ‘overeating and trying to out-king the queen knowing full well how futile that is but still, it’s only one week a year so I’m going to enjoy it’. Not sure if that’s a dictionary-official meaning of word, but let’s go with it).
YHC hates the cold and didn’t have much sleep (double date with some friends) but was energized to Q this morning.
Nine other PAX were at the parking lot at 5:30, which made a nice even numbers counting in YHC. Another car came in hot and then another. 12 is even better than 10!!
What could go wrong?
Started a mosey in the parking lot, with some backwards running. Added a second loop with a sprint.
Introduced the Gladiator crew to ‘The Egyptian’, which YHC did a few times this week just to keep with the holiday spirit. Added mountain climbers and weed pickers. Added 5 OYO Burpees just to get the heart pumping.
We went over to the coupon pile and … they’re gone! WHAT?!
Ok, Ok, don’t panic. So you’ve been planning this beatdown for a couple of weeks and you don’t have a backup. The whole class is looking at you and you realize you’re naked. No, you’re not. Let’s go.
Suicides with Bear Crawls
Starting on one side of the parking lot, run a few steps till the parking spots begin and bear crawl 4 spaces. run back to starting line and run back to that 4th line. Bear crawl 4 more spaces. Run to starting point and back to the 8th line. Bear crawl 4 more spaces. Repeat until you reach the end of the parking lot (4-5 rounds).
Double Dora, grinders style
Having 12 PAX was too good to waste. Divide into 4 groups of three. One from each group begins Dora next to the wall – 100 Donkey Kicks, 200 Merkins, 300 LBCs. A second PAX from each group runs to the other side of the parking lot to begin a Dora on that end with 100 Burpees, 200 Bonnie Blairs and 300 Flatter Kicks. The 3rd PAX from each group runs to replace one of them, which then runs to the other side to replace whoever is there and so forth.
It was a bit confusing at first but the men understood it quickly enough. YHC had to call some audibles, mainly single counts on Bonnie Blairs and Flatter Kicks (that side was far behind due to the Burpees) and unlimited Squats once the Wall Dora finishes till the Curbside Dora is done as well.
A moment to recover and YHC called Indian Run to the restroom building between the soccer fields, snaking a bit in the parking lot so it wasn’t a straight run there.
Ring of Fire
Lined up in 2 lines of 6. First in each line bear crawls around the building, then goes to the end of the line. While they bear crawl, the other men perform a different exercise based on their location in the line. Next in line did Squats, then Merkins, Big Boy Situps, Shoulder Taps and last in line Jump Squats.
When everyone had their turn YHC called for rinse and repeat.
Mary and stuff
Moseyed to the benches in front of the soccer fields for IC Dips and then Inverted Dips (legs raised on the bench, hands on the floor). Moseyed back to the flag, where YHC introduced another new exercise – the Leg Release Merkin. Basically whenever you push down, raise one leg. Next push down raise the other leg. Also did Gas Pumpers and Rosalita. Finished with 10 OYO Burpees.
Prayers for Stroller and his dad.
Cross Ruck tomorrow and Widowmaker on Saturday.
YHC reminded in the prayer that we want to be leader-servants, not slave-servants. That requires getting free from whatever is holding us back.
Some PAX thought the coupons were missing as part of some April Fools joke I pulling, and that I’ll bring them to some hill where they’ll be waiting for us. Nope. Unless someone was pulling one on me. YHC actually thought of doing an April’s Fools theme but wasn’t able to build something worthwhile.
Always a pleasure and an honor leading the Gladiator crew. Also appreciate the parking lot discussions afterwards. Good fellowship. Much needed.
