YHC picked up the F3 workout deck last year while on IR and still haven’t taken the opportunity to give it a test drive in the gloom. Today was the day and 5 PAX not recovering from the star course decided to start the week off right in the chilly Grindstone gloom.
slow mosey around the nature trail to wake up (YHC was admittedly dragging ass this morning) over to the BA parking lot for some weed pickers, willie mays hays, and windmill IC.
YHC explained the rules for how we’d use the workout deck based on the format I made up last night. We had a small container with 17 different workout cards that we’d draw from at random points around the AO, following a traditional “pearls on a string” BD model. Unlike other card deck themed workouts, each card would be put back into the container after so each pull was truly random.
Number cards – value x 3 for rep count
Jack – 20 reps
Queen – 30 reps
King – 40 reps
Ace – 100 reps
Joker – draw another card and double the rep count
I don’t remember specifically how it all went down aside from the fact that we did more repeats than I was anticipating. Lots of mountain climbers and squats with a healthy dose of merkins and a nice round of 30 burpees along the way. All-in-all an interesting experiment that I’ll likely consider how to evolve the suck factor on down the road.
Praise for Alpha teams completing the star course over the weekend safely and prayers for reaching the sad clowns asleep in their fartsacks not knowing what they were missing or realizing how badly they need to find F3.
Mondays are sometimes a bit tougher to take the DRP and today was one of those days for YHC after having stayed up way too late Sunday night finishing a pork shoulder in the smoker. Thankful for the preemptive Q sign-up weeks ago that forced me to follow-through and do the harder thing.
