I woke up at 0445 to thunder. The rain had been POUNDING on the roof for what seemed like all night. My plan for the morning is out the window. Torrential rain with lightning is a no go. So once again into the Thriller Dome. I was hoping to avoid another workout under cover but the lightning sealed the deal.


After driving in the downpour to The Norseman I pulled up and under the Thriller Dome so I could open the doors and fill the room with wonderful music to keep us entertained while we word. Since this was plan B, I went into my workout file and found a workout with a playlist we have not heard in a while… Muse.

At 0530 the last PAX rolled in and we started warming up with Propaganda:

  • SSH
  • Mountain Climbers
  • Weed Pickers
  • Windmill


The Thang:

As song 1 ended it was time to continue on to the meat of the workout, Patsy Kline style (Stand by your man).  As one partner does an exercise up to a specific count, the other partner does AMRAP of a different exercise. When the song changes, new exercises. This was a real barn burner this morning! It might be 0.0 but it wasn’t easy!

You know, some mornings you just don’t want to get out there. Be it rain or fatigue or lack of sleep. But if you make your default that you ARE getting up, more often than not you will. If you decide “well, I’ll see what I feel like in the morning” guess what the answer will be? The fartsack. Make a healthy routine for you. Whatever supports your goals and your fitness level. Then stick to the routine. Make it your normal. Then get out and make it happen.
