Taking the Girls for a run in the woods

Another birthday. Another year closer to, uh, that landmark birthday that ends with a “0”. How did I get this old? I don’t know. You wake up one day and all of your kids are graduated from college and getting real jobs and this old man stares back at you from the mirror. Well, nothing to do but get on with it.

So 4 HIM gathered at The Norseman and we all grabbed a Girlfriend for the morning and took off.


After running down to the intersection with the meditation trail we stopped for warm up:

  • SSH
  • Weed Pickers
  • Imperial Walkers

The Thang:

This morning would be a true “string of pearls” workout. We ran to the St. Francis track for Squats with your girl. We ran into the trails and stopped at intervals for:

  • Curls
  • Overhead Press
  • Thrusters
  • Squat with twist
  • Front squats
  • Romanian Dead-lift

After running to the top of the hill by the softball field and back down to the football field we did Merkin pull throughs (Merkin followed by pulling the bag with one hand while planking from left to right, Merkin, then right to left).

Ran through the meditation trail for more squats.

Then through the woods to the playground for pullups on the monkey bars. Then run back to the flag where we had time for LBCs.
