The rule of the Saturday Gladiator seems to be that you never know what you’re going to get.  YHC tried to build buzz on Slack and only Shrinkage took the bait, but at least we would have 2 no matter what.  As the Q came back from the pre-run, Shrinkage was pulling in with 2.0 in tow, and Brownie, Beaner, and Hitchcock were already there.  Hitchock was helping a friend move until 0300 so planted the flags and headed back to the fartsack.


With 4 in the fold, we were about to begin the mosey when the flag fell.  13 burpees OYO to start out.

After the burpees, long mosey over to the east entrance parking lot.  Grasshopper came dashing as we circled up for:

  • SSH x 15
  • Imperial Walkers x 15
  • Weedpickers x 10
  • Overhead Clap x 15

Finish out the warm-up with an Ascending Curb Crawl.  Bear crawl to the opposite curb, turn and perform Mercans in increasing number.  Planned to go to 9 Mercans, then Q quickly realized wow this is hard and called it at 7.  10-count before moving on

Brief stop at the pavillion for Dips (x20, x10), Step-ups (x20, x10), Leg Raises (x10)

The Thang:

Mosey over to Brownie Hill for Lucky 7s (a Zohan special).  Run to top of hill and perform 6x each of 3 exercises (Monkey Humpers, Mountain Climbers, Squats).  Return to bottom and perform 1x each of 3 exercises (LBCs, T-Bones, Buzzsaws).  Reduce count at top of hill each time and increase at the bottom so that total always equals 7.

Mosey to the field where YHC found his exercise dice that he had stashed there.  I’ve always said that my best (worst) workout ideas come from Miller Time and Devito, this is another Devito classic.  Die 1 had the counts (5, 10, 10, 15, 15, 20); Die 2 had the exercises (Burpee, Merkin, Squat, LBC, Lap, Dealer’s Choice).  Each PAX gives it a roll and we perform the designated number of the exercise.  If lap comes up, we’ll do 1 lap.  (This is approximately when Sox joined).  The exercise die seemed to be heavily weighted toward burpees.  We got 20 once and 15 quite a few times.  The laps were welcomed.  Several PAX noted that the 5 was only rolled when the exercise was a lap. 

After back to back laps, it was time to pack it up and head to the flag.  1 minute of American Hammers.  Fin.


Named Shrinkage’s 2.0 (Bobber).  He did great and is a welcome addition to the group!

This was YHC’s first 3-beatdown week in months.  Especially with IronPax, I am smoked!  Shows that acceleration is a constant process, if you aren’t accelerating you can backslide quickly.
