Grindstone Launch

When: 10/01/2018

PAX (): Ha Ha, Benny, Swiper, Sunshine, Ralphie, Olaf, McDuff, Dumpster, Saint 2.0, Cookie, Whiz

For the last few months, YHC has been hoping for another M/W boot camp option in Forsyth while working on EH’ing several SadClowns who claim the current options in the area were too far.  While waiting patiently can sometimes have merit, it became apparent that some individual initiative (I2) was in order to make things happen and tackle both needs.  After some Google Earth recon, Sharon Springs Park jumped out as the perfect location.  Proximity to SadClowns and enough fields, courts, hills, stairs, parking lots, pavilions, and rock piles to provide an endless combination of beat down opportunities.  It was at this point that hesitation and doubt started creeping in, so YHC picked a date and published the plan before overthinking it.  T-Claps to Ha Ha for the shovel parts/construction and support for the launch.

11 PAX including one Kotter (welcome back Ralphie!) blasted off into the gloom to punch Monday in the face and crack the seal on our newest AO.  Here’s what went down on the first of many beat downs to come at the Grindstone!

Standard exercises all IC with SSH, copperhead squats, hillbillies, and (my new personal favorite) Moroccan nightclubs.

Mosey down to the back baseball fields to what is now officially named the “Hill of Death” for some 11’s.  This is a great hill that’s steep enough down to almost cause hesitation looking down from the top in the gloom.

  • Round 1 – Merkins at the top, star jumps at the bottom
  • Round 2 – LBC’s up top, lunges down low (both legs count as 1)

Next, partner up for some catch me if you can on the way back to the football fields.  Partner 1 backwards moseys while partner 2 does 3 burpees and runs to catch-up to partner 1.

Head through the gate to field #10 and keep same partners for some B.O.M.B.S.  Standard routine and rep count with butt-kickers down to the opposite goal line and high-knees back to relieve partner.  Audible to 50 yd line and back after a few trips.  All PAX made it to the BBSU’s before we wrapped and headed back to the flag for just a few MoM.

Flutter kicks, Freddie Mercuries, and box cutters x 20 IC to close it out.

Swiper has a milestone birthday Q tomorrow at Big Creek.  Post and show HIM some RESPECT!!!

Upon pulling into the park, me and Benny  passed 3 cops camped out by the entrance and started to worry this was about to be the AO that never was.  Thankfully, they didn’t seem to mind the stream of vehicles rolling in for the next 15 minutes.  Glad to have that out of the way and I think Sunshine sealed the deal when he rolled-up in his Tesla to ask directions to the flag.

This AO location is awesome and I can’t wait to see all of the ways the PAX are going to exploit everything it has to offer.  Be on the lookout for some guest Q’s coming soon!
